Originally designed by John B. Sparks and published by Rand McNally in 1931, this cultural infographic provides a snapshot of 4,000 years of world history. Nations rise, empires fall, cultures are born and die in this impactful glimpse into the global cultural relationships of the past.

We updated the design of the original Histomap by digitally resetting all of the typography for better legibility and widening the columns to give history some room to breathe.
